I voted for Creative but Realistic, but it's tough for me. I'm all for things that stretch realism and stuff, but not too far. I don't want to see lighting being incorrect or stars in front of planets. Other than that, pretty much everything is fair game.
yep, seeking that middle line between realism and creativity is the key Imo. also, there are basic things we must follow, like the correct ilumination and shadowing of a planet, and such
Space art goes hand in hand with Science-Fiction, imho. It's nice to see realistic Planets and Stars, but concerning nebulas and whole galaxies, the term "surreal" surfaces.
What I personally like most about space art is the SCALE of things the pieces show. It's like using google earth for the first time, zooming in on New York until you can see birds on the rooftops.
I personally like the space/sci-fi relation, is actually where Im trying to go these days, to capture that concept.I also agree with the scale thing, makes you wander a lot...
I remember =JoeJesus made a poll like this a long time ago While I do respect those who can create full-realistic space scenes, I tend to find most a little bit boring and prefer more surreal and unusual features...shiny colours is a plus, provided people don't go overboard with too much shiny effects...planets aren't made of chrome after all
Yeah, I absolutly agree with you. its the same with a drawing, you dont trace every single shadow, line, and colour of it, but try to make a representation of the world you see, thats the magic of art. It can look even better than the real thing, even if its not realistic . I guess trying to find this middle line between realism and creativity, is the key to make better art
