Prime Publishing, Card Game, New showreel!

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 16, 2012, 7:18 PM
Hey there!,
Just wanted to give a quick update a bout a couple of things that happened during these last weeks.
Starting with the prime publishing, as the title says, 2 of my works were selected to be part of this incredible book of digital works. Its trully an honor to be part of such an amazing group of artist around the world, and also to share my works with so many people like this. The works choosen are Drone 42 and Illuminate my soul. The book is still not out, but I will let you know how and when you can get it.
Related to this is the next news, wich is a bout a card game called Prime Wars. This game will include many of the selected works of the next prime publishing. One of my works was choosen to be part of this card game aswell, so if you are expecting to get the card set anytime soon you will have one of my robots as a mech in the game!. You can check everything related to the game, and even support it here: [link]

I decided to update my showreel, becuase the last one was way too old, and didn't show anything I am currently doing, so I took the chance to give it a new and fresh look :)

Check it out here ----> [link]

Let me know what you think!

New works are coming, so stay tuned!!

when life gives you bronchitis

Journal Entry: Sat May 19, 2012, 11:22 PM
You just hate winter for the rest of your life!. heh :P
Seriously guys, EVERY single winter I get bronchitis or pneumonia instantly the first 2 or 3 weeks when the temperature starts lowering, and every single year I'm more confident that I have the worst breathing system in the universe. Give me a break!
The worst thing about this, is that doctors are completly useless during the first stages of this process, at least for me...because whenever I tell them what I have or how I feel, most of them react with stupid questions like "Do you want me to inject this x solution for your lungs" or "So, what about that...?" what the HELL, I dont know! you tell me, you are the one who studied medicine for 7 years!, I prefeer you not to do anything so things don't get worse. 100% True story, no joke.
I used to love winter, but now I cant even tolerate a single bit of it. I'm really curious about how you guys spend winter, do you get anything like this or do you just face a common cough?

Fortunately Im almost 100% recovered, and fell great about it :)

Talking about random stuff, just saw one animation movie that I never thought I would see, usually I'm verry selective with animation, specially with japanese, and this was no exception. I wasn't intrested in the the series, or anything closer, in fact the subject was pretty much boring to me, but I was wrong. "The disappearance of haruhi suzumiya" is a masterpiece of storytelling!, man these japanese do know how to direct good movies, I was completly trapped from the beggining to the end, and was amazed by the quality of the animation and music. I strongly recomend it if you like japanimotion ;)

MOAR works are coming so stay tuned :eager:

See you space cowboy...!

Birthday :)

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 11, 2012, 5:10 PM
Woah, I seriously cant believe how many messages I got for my birthday from you guys here, I really REALLY thank you so much for being so awesome! ;). So today I am 25 years old, 1/4 of a century, damn, it sounds like a lot of time, but I still feel like this is just the beggining of great things, things that I thought I will never acomplish, and now they can really become true. Just by thinking how many things I achieved this year makes me realize how far I went, and how much I learned. I am now working full time in a 9 hour day job, and the trip from work to home makes me feel exhausted every single time, its a long way. But regardless I still have energy to keep on painting, drawing, and making all I'v ever wanted, wich is art. When I was still young I thought I won't be able to keep on doing what I love anymore, I thought that working all day long will make you loose intrest in your hobbies. Thank god I was wrong.
Its true that I have less time than before, and to be honest that makes me feel terrible, but Im still finding the moment I need to be inspired and bring my drawings to life :)
I want to thank YOU for being so supportive, even when i'm not updating my journal or uploading submissions im still here checking your messages, which I trully appreciate them.

A special thanks goes to :iconradoxist: for donating points on this special day :), thanks a lot man!!

See you guys soon!!!

Digital art masters and more...

Journal Entry: Mon May 30, 2011, 3:47 PM
Hi there,

Long time scince my last journal (as always). Here I want to show you a couple of things that happened last year, and other things that are happening right now. To start with, I had been contacted by the staff of Digital Art Masters, in order to include some of my pieces in their next release. You can imagine how awesome that is. And they aren't only printing a book, but also some verry cool cards with the works on them. Here is a preview:

I've been told that the verry first 200 persons that buy the book, will automatically get these cards :D

You can preorder the book here: [link]
The book will be relased soon after June 10th 2011.

On the other hand, my last piece "Off Road" was requested as the Cover image of the next Clarkesworld magazine issue [link] ,which will be printed out soon during this month. Im so exited about that!, cant wait to see it :D.

I am also working on a graphic novel written by Paul J. Lang, which is certainly amazing, I'm enjoying so much creating every single image. Some of this images will be posted soon here, and also in my personal website. :)

Some other features include special publishing in Imagine fx magazine regarding these 2 pieces:

I still didn't have the chance to by each issue, because of the credit card paying method, but I will try to do it as soon as I can!

The next Luminarium exhibit si also coming soon, so expext many many awesome works showing up!

2d artist magazine feature + Stuff

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 12, 2010, 3:58 PM
oh god it's been such a busy month, I had to deal with so many things that I didnt even have time to watch tv. To start with, I had to finish with 2 final subjects at university, and 1 final exam aswell. This required insane amounts of hours in front of the computer just to refine some specific layouts for a product. Luckily, everything ended up well, and I passed both subjects, but unfortunately the headache is still there :P. So I still need to take 1 more final exam and I will be done with everything. I will finally have some free time to paint again :D. It is at this point where you make a balance about your performance during the hole year (at least this is what I do), and I certainly think that things could have gone better at some point, and that I could have done something to make that happend, but overall, it has been a really succesfull year with unexpected awards and features, and with a lot of support from the comunity :). Sometimes I even complain about the outcome of my works, and how better I could have done them, but then I remember I am still learning, and that this is a process we all go through. So my question is, was this year good for you?, did you reached your prime objectives?, do you regret not geting something you could have gotten?

Apart from this, I take the oportunity to to tell you guys that my "Energy backup" work got featured in the UK 2D artst magazine lattest issue, wich you can check here: [link] (check the interactive preview, I think its on page 45).Im really happy to see this work there :D. Also, please take the time to see some amazing works from other artists aswell, they are all incredible ;)
if you are intrested, I will be making a small preview of this feature on my website along with the rest of the other ones...

Stay well! :)

News out of this universe!

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 11, 2010, 4:05 PM
:omg::omg::omg:

Wow, long time since my last jouornal, it´s been like 3 months since I updated this, shame on me :P.
So back to the point, many things occured during these days, and as the title says, they were completly out of this world!. To start with, my "Leviathan" work got published as part of a Luminarium special feature on the verry well known magazine "Advanced Photoshop" from the UK. I just had to see that happend, so I bough the issue 74, and I have to say it was mind-blowing seeing one of my works there, as well as the other works from fellow artists. :D. So that was one part of the events. The thing goes on with The "Realm of Fantasy" group, who did a verry big contest  during the month of July, and I thought it would be cool to enter... there is when my "Make a Wish" work enters. I srsly never expected to win 1st place or something similar, mabye a 3rd place with a little bit of luck, but fortunatly it got a lot more atention than I thought. It happeneds that this work not only got a DD, but also won that contest :O, and is getting a published on the upcoming "ImagineFX" Issue! :O...wth!
And just to end this crazyness,"Quattropublishing" , wich is a huge publishing company from the UK, may want to put some of my works on their next book :O. I say "may" becuase there is still no confirmation yet, but im crossing my fingers!

Apart from that, you may notice my avatar changed, yup :P, that is true. I just feeled the old one didnt longer represented what I was doing. It was a hard choice though, I used that avatar for such a long time, and I certainly got used to it.

The Luminarium next exhibit is going to be released soon aswell, so stay tunned because it is going to be awesome! :D. Im planing to release a digital painting tutorial at the same time, so mabye this could give you some extra help when you need to paint :)

Now its time for some sci-fi/space features!

keep signing out!

What a great day!!

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 29, 2010, 9:55 AM
Yesterday was crazy! :D

It all started me having a verry important final exam at university, I have been studying for 6 no-stoping days to do it well. I was also kinda nervous because it was a spoken test, not a written one. Anyway, I woke up early to be called first to take the test( then I had like 250 people behind me XD ), so I finally get to make it, and when they give me the final mark, I discover I have an awesome 6 :D (wich is something like a "B" )and "Holly fuck YEAH" was all i could say, but in my language, wich is "TOMAAAA HIJO DE....". That was the first part. Then when I arrive home, happy from my result at uni, I find 1.800 messages in my account, and at first I was slow to react and was like "hmmmm" but then I knew that could only mean one thing!! :D. I was so happy to discover that my work "Make a wish"  got a DD!, and its even better because its the first time one of my scifi/fantasy works gets one, and that means quite a lot to me. I should thank a lot to ~DragonBreath7575 for suggesting and `MacRebisz for the feature, and to all the deviants who faved and wached me. The last, but not less important, good part of these period of days was that I got a 3 month subscription from my bro =SkillZombie so he has gaind a most deserved special feature wich will be seen down below this journal. :omg:

And just in time to continue the awesome news, the Luminarium is finally relesaing its last brand new awesome exhibit wich will have one of my best works so far! :omg:, and will feauture some of the best artist out there. the exhibit will be released sooner than you expected! so stay tunned! :eager:
:icontheluminarium:

So thats it,

Stay well guys!

Hey guys!, how have you been doing these days?

I have just finished with  my exams, and finally I have some free time to spend on art stuff!
I was willing for some extra hours during the course to make some works, but I couldnt find much, so Im quite happy right now :D
As for the last deviations, I will like to thank all the people who has commented and faved. You are all amazingly supportive, and I really appreciate that :). Right now Im trying to answer every coment you left on those works, still 54 remaining on the list...:ohnoes:

Also, if you didnt noticed, I updated my website. I changed the flash interface for a html, css, javascript one, wich is even faster, and adapts better to any system. It is also easyer for me to add new content, so Im quite happy with that.
There are some cool stuff, like the Demo reel, wich has a verry known soundtrack from "the island movie" called "My name is Lincoln". Im trying to contact Steve Jablonsky to see if I can use the song on my video. If I cant, well, I will just remove it, no big deal :)
There are some works still missing, but Im taking my time to fix all the bugs, untill the gallery is finished :)

So thats it guys, I will be uploading MOAR contend during these days,

Stay well!

Is it me or everything DA makes in this site is to improve the message system and "playground" area, wich would be 99,9 % of the place at the moment. They are really missing the most important thing, ART. I know there are already many improvements on the site to watch deviations, but somehow all the other changes seem to leave it aside.
I dont know, mabye its just me :P

Im taking this oportunity to apologize for being so absent lately, I have a sort of Art block wich turns me into a hatefull mood, ( and makes me hungry sometimes, but thats not the point :P ), and Im basically deleting everything I make. Makes me wonder, That Im still learning, and I still depend on that little inspiration sparkle to create good stuff, hope it comes back soon.
Also, I feel I am every day farther from becoming a profesonal artist. In my country ( at least here ), art is worthless for living, unless you are extremely succesfull, but in general its useless to think you could work with that. Im studying web programing now, and I will be probably working with that in a while, that means less time for art, for practising...and you do the counting. :(

Anyway, while my dreams fell off XD , Im taking the oportunity to improve my animations. Right now Im finishing some final chapter of an old animation, and is getting sick ( In a good way), my tablet makes things so much easyer. If you are on newgrounds Ill be posting it there soon, so stay tuned ( like if anyone cared about it XD )

So thats it guys.

Stay well!

If you have any opinions about this post in general, I,ll love to read them :)

Ill be back soon ;)

Luminarium Exhibit:

The Luminarium is proud to give you our 9th exhibit We are Dust and Shadow. We decided to take ourselves outside of our comfort zone and use a theme that was a little different to what most of us are used to working with. While this has led to a smaller exhibit it, as always, packs a punch. With some fantastic artwork from the likes of Chris Cold and Pheonix-06 to some artwork by our newer artists that you might not have been expecting, both visual and audio, We are Dust and Shadow doesn't hold back in any respects.

We give you We are Dust and Shadow.

Avatar:

I finally saw the movie!. It was visually outstanding! Graphics where awesome. The plot was kinda "classic" but it was told in a verry original way. When I first saw Pandora next to that huge gas giant, all my space art works came to my mind :D. There where some moments when they do those close ups to the Navy faces, I had to figure out if thats was make up or CG. :omg:

Fun!:

Life goes on + New projects + Features

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 9, 2009, 7:59 PM
Yeah, time to update journal :D

So, its been a rough year at Uni, I studyed so hard I cant even see right now (not true  ), so now I can put all my time into art wich is one of the things I most love in this world.
Right now Im working in a new space project wich gives you, the player, the ability to create everything from strings to asteroids, planets and stars. Basically im in charg of the visual part of the game, like backgrounds, and visual gameplay. Its too early to speak about details, because the game is still being developed, but soon Ill be posting some new info about it.

As you can see there is a new hyperrealistic style in my last work. Ill try to fit my art into that new style, just because I feel its time to progress a little bit on that part.

There are some pending things that Ill like to clear out:

.The only tool I use to make art is mouse: I had like 3 notes and several coments about wich tools I use for my art ( im planing to buy a wacom soon though). well now you know... ;)

.There will be a cloud airbrushing tutorial soon on my gallery. This was asked by my friend Voyager months ago and I just had to delayed it because of exams and work ( sorry man :P )

An other year passed by, and somehow, I feel every year end's faster then the previous ones...is this happening to you?
I find myself looking at the sky too many times lately, ( I tend to do that verry occasionaly ), I just find it so nostalgic, so dreamy, so beautifull,...mabye I'm looking for something, or mabye I'm just thinking too much about it.

Anyway, to finish with this journal, Im going to feature some works of my verry best friends here on DA. Go show them some love :)
(If Im forgeting someone let me know)

So Im back on art finally :)
I was certainly un inspired this last 2 months but nevermind, this kind of things tend to happend.

Unknown Moons Contest

About this contest, I was verry exited when it camed out, I thought I'll be fighting against thousands of works better than mine, (wich is 100% true almost every time I submit something :D )
Anyway, my point is, Im somewhat sad about the progress of it. Only 50 deviations in almost 1 month ...I know we are not oblied to participate, but just for this time, when its about our verry own discipline...lets support, lets make this contest a great one. Probably `gucken and `taenaron wont have any chance to make an other contest if this doesnt succeed.

In case you didnt catch up with the contest news here I leave you the links:
