Robots. Created by humans for the express purpose of simplifying our constantly heterogeneous lives. At first simply obeying our commands and performing various tasks around buildings and households, they soon became sentient beings and flourished into an actual race. Many humans were skeptical about their existence and many robots and similar automatons and eventually shunned them. Others remained and assisted us in intergalactic work such as terraforming and planetary construction. Energy Backup, created by =keepwalking07, shows us precisely how robots could be implemented in the future to perform task such as this on other worlds or even on our very planet.

Starting off with the first thing I see on this piece, the machines never cease to amaze me with their design style; being depicted as decrepit and aged automatons still somehow functioning well enough to serve their jobs well enough. The various markings, running lights, hanging wires, cracks and other minuscule details upon their hard, metal frames. You can almost imagine them moving slowly across a barren planetoid; exposed wiring swaying slowly with every single movement they make, old gears and parts whirring with audible effort in each and every movement. The humans speaking amongst themselves as the look about their surrounding in order to get a better understanding of the location. It really builds onto a story and makes the world that much more lively toward the viewer of the painting.

Such a piece with such great elements is not without flaws however. Some of the robots Tesla coils aren't refracting and/or generating as much light as they should and the flicker effect on the reflecting metal does not appear as effective as it should be. A good partial retouch would really do that part of the piece justice. Also the atmospheric fog is nice but some of the humanoid figures on the right side of the image have shadows that appear unusually solid and should really be faded a bit.

That aside, the piece still shows more than enough of the incredible work that a Luminarium member should hold for himself. Congratulations once again =keepwalking07 and we look forward to many more pieces of your work.
